This November 25 the Knowmad Institut is painted orange and joins the Generation Equality in the 16-day campaign promoted by UN Women. This year the campaign focuses on raising awareness about rape, which in many countries is an epidemic.
“Sexual violence against women and girls is rooted in centuries of male domination. Let’s not forget that the gender inequalities that fuel the culture of rape are essentially a matter of power imbalance.
– António Gutérres, UN Secretary General.
Paint the world in orange against rape
The UNiTE campaign is a movement launched years ago by the UN Secretary-General to end violence against women that, like this year’s theme, will focus its efforts and activities on the fight against rape.
As has happened in previous editions, this day of struggle on November 25 will mark the launch of the Unite Campaign, which will have 16 days of activism that will end on December 10, 2019, coinciding with International Human Rights Day.
There is still widespread impunity for sexual violence and rape, hence the theme of this International Day is “Paint the World in Orange: Generation Equality Opposes Rape”.
